71 Variable Refrigerant Flow Outdoor Unit The condenser or outdoor unit of a variable refrigerant flow (VRF) system is the part of the heat pump responsible for either rejecting heat to the ambient environment or pulling heat from it. This is achieved through a vapor compression cycle. Similar as in a fan coil unit, a build-in fan circulates outdoor air across the condenser. Heat is transported to or from the condenser to the indoor evaporator via a refrigerant line.
